Possibly the greatest American court room drama. Based on the famous 1925 "Scopes Monkey Trial", in which a young science teacher in Dayton, Tennessee was jailed for teaching Darwin's Theory of Evolution, the drama remains as relevant today as ever. The play features a clash of two of history's most intriguing figures: for the prosecution, William Jennings Bryan, gifted orator, twice failed presidential candidate, and known as the Great Commoner. And for the defense, America's greatest jurist, Clarence Darrow, defender of the downtrodden, a man who always stood for liberal causes and fought tirelessly against prejudice during a sixty year career.
