Director Kate Hawkes
In the 19 years she has lived in Oregon since moving here
from Australia, Kate has been a teacher, actor, director,
producer and playwright. Directing credits include Quilters
for Lakewood Theatre
Company; The Weir, Quilters and Sweet Phoebe at
Artists Repertory Theatre;
Cloud Tectonics for Miracle
Theatre Company. As guest director at
Linfield College credits include: Antigone, Reckless, Voice
of The Prairie, and Keely and Du. She directs and acts regularly
for the Portland Civic Theatre Guild's readings. On stage Kate has played
lead roles in Medea, Equus, Painting Churches,
Eleemosynary, and Bedroom Farce. She has appeared in
Theatre Vertigo's 24 -Hour Play and Anonymous Theatre productions.
Kate is the Founder and Artistic Director of the Well
Arts Institute and created the Performing Wellness™ process
where she guides people through a writing process and then
produces that work. (To date there have been 7 of these
productions.)
As a playwright her credits include Composers In Skirts
for
Not Only Productions, and Singing Our Way Home for The
Tears of Joy Theatre. Her
newest play Sky….Diamonds, after a successful reading at
Coho Theatre is in further development. Kate is also Adjunct Faculty at
Linfield College, teaching theatre classes and a new arts and wellness course.
About The Author
Michael Gow was born in Sydney and educated at the
University of Sydney. During the 1980s he was cast in many film,
television and theatre productions, including the feature film
Stir and the television series The
Young Doctors.
Michael’s writing credits for stage, screen and radio are extensive.
His plays include the multi-award winning play Away, hailed as a
modern classic of the Australian theatre and now one of the most
performed Australian works written. Other plays include The Kid;
On Top of The World; Europe; 1841; the award winning
Furious; Sweet Phoebe (also an award winner); and
Live Acts on Stage. A number of his works have been produced and
performed internationally including major seasons in the UK and US.
Mr. Gow is Michael is currently the Artistic Director of
the Queensland
Theatre Company.
