Bonnie Ross
In the 1980s Bonnie performed in many productions in
Portland, notably as Mary Hallen in Who's Happy Now? at
the Firehouse Theatre, as Mrs. Holly in Suddenly Last Summer
at the Portland Civic Theatre, the Mother-In-Law in Blood Wedding
for the Musical Company, as Hallie in Buried Child for
PSU's summer festival, in the Quilters ensemble for
Artists'
Repertory Theatre, as Ruth in Table Manners with the Open Door
Theatre, and as Miss Margarida herself in Miss Margarida's Way for
Sirius Productions. (Sadly, many of those companies are no longer around,
but, happily, Bonnie is.) She also sang with the
Portland Opera Chorus and with the Portland
Symphonic Choir. She directed a couple plays for the Gallery Players in
McMinnville, The Dark at the Top of the Stairs and Frankenstein,
an original musical.
She has spent the last 12 years in Colorado Springs. While
there, she was on the board of directors for the Star Bar
Players and costumed and propped many of their productions.
She directed Proof for that same company, which was selected
by the local arts council as one of the three best productions in
Colorado Springs for that season. She played Rebecca Nurse in
The Crucible, Mrs. Toothe in Everything in the Garden,
Miss Emily Brent in Ten Little Indians, Aunt Abby in
Arsenic and Old Lace, and Aunt Sallie in Fifth of July.
Bonnie has recently returned home to Oregon to stay forever
and has bought a house in Depoe Bay. This reading performance
of Away constitutes her return to Oregon regional theare.
